Kristi B. Hawley, DO, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist and the founder, owner, and CEO of The Derm Institute of West Michigan, a comprehensive private dermatology practice and research center. She earned her medical degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her dermatology residency at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan.
Dr. Hawley is a nationally recognized Principal Investigator leading over 20 clinical trials in dermatology, with a focus on psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and chronic urticaria. Her passion for education and mentorship is exemplified through her role as an associate clinical professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSU-COM), and actively trains medical students and residents in both primary care and dermatology.
Deeply committed to healthcare policy, Dr. Hawley currently serves as Chairperson of the Michigan Doctors’ Political Action Committee (MDPAC), and holds a seat on AAD’s SkinPac Committee, where she leads healthcare advocacy at the state and national levels. She regularly represents dermatology and healthcare interests at CMS hearings, legislative conferences, and payer negotiations, and is an active contributor to the Michigan State Medical Society’s advocacy initiatives.
Dr. Hawley is a frequent medical educator, guest speaker, and author, with peer-reviewed publications in multiple journals, and has been nationally invited to present on dermatology access, policy, and emerging treatments
