Tor Shwayder MD is a native of Detroit. He graduated from Harvard BA with honors then attended University of Michigan medical school. A pediatric residency followed and private pediatric practice in Ypsilanti Michigan. Dr Shwayder then did a second residency in dermatology at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY. Dr Ed Krull recruited him to start Pediatric Dermatology at Henry Ford in 1987, where he has been ever since. Dr Shwayder has over 200 publications, and has spoken national and internationally. Dr Shwayder took a break from Harvard to study violin pedagogy at Royal Academy of Music in London England, and passed the exam to be awarded a “Licentiate degree” (LRAM). He continues to play with semi-professional orchestras and chamber groups. Dr Shwayder is a private pilot with advanced degrees in instrument navigation and complex engines with retractable gear. His enduring passion is raising “double double” peonies and David Austin roses.
